Embroidery
Design detail - When submitting a very detailed design for embroidery, you should be aware that some adjustments may be necessary in order to make it look its best when sewn.
Lettering Size - For lettering to be legible in stitches, it should be no smaller than 3/16" tall ( approx. 5 letters per inch). The larger the lettering, the less letters per inch.
Rayon v. Poly Thread - We use both Rayon and Polyester thread for embroidery. Polyester handles commercial laundering better, but Rayon often has a better sheen. If you know that the items you are ordering may be commercially laundered, please let us know, as they should be embroidered with polyester thread.
Pockets - As a general rule, designs can not be run on shirt pockets without sewing the pocket shut. Therefore, we will run any chest design on a pocketed shirt approx. 1" above the pocket, unless otherwise instructed. Items such as tote bags, messenger bags, back packs, etc. may have pockets that can be embroidered on.
Tackle Twill is done by cutting pieces of one material and applying it to the surface of another material. It can add a bold look to your design, while often keeping the stitch count down. Tackle Twill is the preferred choice for both professional sports teams and school athletic organizations when decorating jerseys and uniforms. Look closely at what your favorite football, baseball or hockey player is wearing on the field. His or her garment has most likely been embellished with personalized tackle twill names and numbers. Tackle Twill can be used on a variety of products, including hoodies, tees and jackets.
Applique - The difference between Tackle Twill and Applique
Mesh Back Caps - We can not embroider on the backs on these types of caps.
You may notice a plastic looking substance between some of the letters on your embroidered goods. This is a product called "Solvy" and was used to enhance the quality of the design. Solvy is water-soluble and will disappear completely when the garment is washed for the first time.
Washing Instructions - Embroidered items should be washed in warm water with a mild detergent. Do not add bleaching agents such as chlorine, peroxide or sodium carbonate. Do not line dry. Tumble dry at a warm setting. Never leave damp or wet embroidered articles folded or stuck together. Never wring out any embroidered articles. Never leave embroidered articles soaking in water. If a newly embroidered article is washed in cool or cold water, leftover dye particles from the thread may be released onto the fabric. This does not mean that the article is ruined. Rewash in warm water. The remaining particles will wash out.
